Research Questions:

How can the sport of Olympic weightlifting be related to 3D visualization and rapid prototyping?

How can 3D visualization be implemented into athletic research and instruction?

My Proposal:

To create 3D, working models of both a weightlifter and a barbell using some sort of 3D modeling package.

Using rapid prototyping, I can make models that emphasize key positions of the pull in order to:

• Physically demonstrate some of the biomechanical principles involved.
• Create a physical model that can be used in instruction or further study.
