Modeling

Originally, I planned on using Poser to model the lifter. However, the program wasn't nearly as intuitive as I had anticipated. As a result, this project became a good opportunity for me to develop my skills in Maya. Building on the skills learned in the "Primitive Man" tutorial, I was able to build a workable model of a weightlifter. Additionally, I was able to create a barbell taht could be parented to the lifter. The model could then be rigged to emphasize key points of instruction, as well as certain biomechanical principles. Working in Maya, I was able to:

  • create skeleton joints with IK handles
  • create a rolling foot hierarchy
  • bind surfaces into skeleton joints
  • use flexors to influence objects
