Summary: This course is designed for students who are planning on entering medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, or health care administration/management.

Location: TEMPE, ARIZONA NOVEMBER 13 & 20
Mandatory orientation meetings will be conducted on the ASU Campus. Location to be determined at a later date.

BUENOS AIRES ARGENTINA JANUARY 1 - 12
Participants will have opportunities to explore the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, the “Paris of South America” and the vibrant culture that is Argentina. Several clinic visits, walking tours, events and excursions are planned for Buenos Aires and other areas, including the Gauchos and the Pampas and a Tango Dinner and Show. Note: Buenos Aires is a large metropolitan city and students should exercise normal precautions as foreign visitors to the city.

Eligibility: The program is open to anyone interested in health care delivery in Latin America. Applications with a $150 deposit (non-refundable) are due October 16, 2006. Applications will be accepted until November 22, 2006 or until the program is full. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis. Acceptance into the program is contingent on essay and interview with Program Director. Participants must be willing to walk the city. Be prepared with good footwear.
Academic
Program:
Course content will be delivered in a variety of methods, including: seminars addressing health care economics and policy, the practice of medicine and rehabilitation sciences, portrayal of movement in art; and clinical visits tailored to the participants’ interests (orthopedic surgery, physical and occupational therapy clinics, sports medicine facilities, etc.). The following courses will be offered:

KIN 594 Argentina: Health Care Policy, Medicine, and Culture

Living
Accommodations:
Participants will stay in a three-star hotel in Buenos Aires, sharing two to four to a suite with kitchenettes.
Cost: The cost of $1,255 (subject to change) includes: room, some meals, excursions, staff support, and course facilities. Not included: ASU tuition and fees, airfare, most meals and personal expenses.
