ECURE 2006 Feb 27 - Mar 1 Call for Proposals

The conference co-chairs are soliciting proposals for sessions, individual presentations and poster sessions at ECURE 2006: Preservation and Access for Digital College and University Resources. ECURE 2006 will be held at the beautiful Arizona State University at Tempe campus in the Phoenix metropolitan area February 27-March 1, 2006. Conference presentations and materials will be posted to the ECURE website at www.asu.edu/ecure shortly after the conference.

Conference Themes

The ECURE 2006 program will focus on the topic of biomedical information, the infrastructure required to collect, sustain and make available associated research data and administrative records, and the policy and regulatory environments that drive this activity at the institutional or national level. Specifically ECURE will seek presenters who are investigating the nature of biomedical research data and designing information systems that accommodate appropriate use, reuse and preservation. Research faculty and administrators, policy analysts, technology professionals, librarians, records managers and archivists would be potential speakers and the target audience for this conference.

These themes will be enunciated through two sets of session tracks: The first track focusing specifically on biomedical data and related knowledge management systems, and the second track dedicated to generalized electronic records, institutional repository and digital asset management issues.

Deadlines

Proposals will be accepted until November 15th, 2005. Selected presenters will be notified by December 2nd, 2005. Presenters will receive free admission to the conference. Final presentation slides and materials are due Feburary 22nd for insertion in the conference notebook.

Proposal Submission Instructions

Proposals should include complete contact information, including the speaker's name, job title, institution, address, phone, fax, e-mail address, brief biographical information, and an abstract of 250-500 words. Also required are the planned presentation length, format, and any media or facilities requirements. Please e-mail your proposal to ecure.info@asu.edu by November 15, 2005.

Presentations

Proposals will be considered for the concurrent 60 and 90 minute sessions and 15 minute poster sessions. Session proposals including more than one speaker are acceptable, although complete contact information for all speakers must be included in the proposal. The completed proposal represents a commitment on the part of all presenters listed, so it is expected that proposed presenters will have agreed to speak before their name is included in a proposal.

Papers and Related Materials

Presenters are encouraged to submit papers for publication on the conference Web site. Presenters may also submit copies of supplemental materials, such as handouts or copies of slides, for inclusion in the conference notebook.
