The Problem
The problem of teen pregnancy faces millions of teens nationwide. The irresponsibility of today's youth has resulted in single-parent families, poverty issues, and dropping out of school. Eight hundred-twenty thousand (820,000) teen girls get pregnant each year. Thirty-four percent of young women get pregnant at least once before they turn 20.1 Each year the federal government alone spends about $40 billion to help families that began with a teenage birth.
