Two Syllables

These words have been divided into syllables for you.  Remember, we're dealing with SOUNDS, not spelling, so the syllable divisions here will not match what you see in the dictionary. You can better see the syllable division if you transcribe these words into the International Phonetic Alphabet.

Note that in the first row, both syllables are open. In the second row, the first syllable is closed while the second is open. In the third row, the first syllable is open while the second is closed. In the last row, both syllables are closed.
