Privacy and Technology Experts to Examine Academic Research

January 2004

Information policy and network technology issues relating to records of university research will be the theme of ECURE 2004: Preservation and Access for Electronic College and University Records.

David Sobel, General Counsel for the Electronic Information Privacy Center, returns to ECURE to review the USA Patriot Act and other privacy laws and standards relating to records and products of university research projects.

Clifford Lynch, Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information, will offer his insightful comments on the state of university laboratory recordkeeping and electronic dissemination of academic research.

Other conference sessions will address realted technical and policy developments such as PDF/A, student privacy and university research, website preservation and risk management, federated databases and institutional repositories.
