Bio

Rob Spindler is University Archivist and Head of the Department of Archives and Manuscripts at Arizona State University Libraries. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in American History from Boston University and the Master of Science from the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Rob is past chair of the Society of American Archivists Archival Information Exchange and Nominating committees, and he is currently chair of the SAA Electronic Publications Working Group. For 2001 Rob is also project leader for Arizona Archives Online, a online index to finding aids from all three Arizona public universities. Spindler is also conference co-chair for ECURE 2004: Preservation and Access for Electronic College and University Records, an interdisciplinary conference sponsored by ASU. Rob presents regularly on internet ethics and digital preservation issues.

Learn the eight fundamental challenges in preserving any electronic content and receive nine suggestions for extending the potential lifespan of your digital works. This advocacy presentation seeks to help document creators safely store and retain their content, and also serves as a useful general introduction to concepts of digital preservation.
