Essays are to be 2-3 page summary and analysis of the topic, bringing together and contextualizing your readings, class discussion/activities, and group discussions/activities.

Each essay should include:

  • A short summary of the readings (both 494 and 598)
  • An analysis of the topic based on your reading and discussions. Your analysis should NOT be a simple regurgitation of the messages and posts to the discussion forum(s). Instead, the essays should bring together the readings and discussions, place it in some context, and analyze the topic. Why is it significant or relevant (or why isn't it), to whom?

Grading Criteria:

Each essay is worth 5 points. Although 4 of the essays will be co-authored, each of you will receive an individual grade for each. Grading criteria will be:

  • Analysis of the topic: 3 pts
  • Participation and collaboration: 2 pts
