The property and facilities of the Memorial Union (MU) are intended for the educational, cultural, and social benefit of the university community. All other uses inconsistent with this purpose are prohibited.

Banned Items and Activities

Illegal drugs, firearms, and gambling in any form are prohibited in the MU.

Roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and the use of those items within the MU are prohibited.

Note: The limitation on the use of scooters is not intended to limit or redirect use of mobility devices by individuals with disabilities.

Use of candles and incense is prohibited, except for ceremonial purposes and only upon approval of the MU Administration and receipt of a permit from ASU Environmental Health & Safety.


Alcohol may be served or consumed only at designated special events as authorized by Arizona Board of Regents’ policy 5-108(A)(4), “Sale and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages on Campus” and SSM 106–03, “Alcohol and Other Drugs on Campus.”


When in the MU, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who will assume responsibility for their conduct and welfare.


Service animals and dogs used in law enforcement are the only animals permitted in the building.

Equipment and Furnishings

Equipment and furnishings belonging to the MU may not be removed from or loaned out of the building.

Art, paintings, pictures, and other displays may not be moved or removed under any circumstances.
