Policy

[horizontal rule]

A new academic unit may be proposed by the president, the provost of the university, a dean, or a college faculty. When such a unit is recommended by the college faculty, authorization of a new academic unit is subject to the review and approval of the dean of the college as well as subsequent approvals by the provost of the university and president. Authorization is also subject to review and a recommendation from the University Senate. Once the provost of the university and the president agree to the unit’s establishment, the proposed unit is submitted to the board of regents for their approval.
