20. User Management

Know your users, "Individual accountability is the key to securing and controlling any system that processes information on behalf of individuals or groups of individuals.

user cleanup---disable or delete accounts of those who are no longer users on your systems

The system admin should be responsible for the development of a procedure whereby prompt notification is given to him/her when a user ID and password must be removed from the system (e.g., when an employee or student leaves ASU or the unit).

All userid's should be revalidated periodically for information such as sponsor and means of off-line contact e.g., phone number, mailing address) updated as necessary.

It is recommended that this revalidation be done at least once per year.
