Summary: |
Students will be engaged in planning and design projects focusing on sustainable design and ecotourism for local communities. It is organized in conjunction with the University of Belize Natural Resource Management program and will include collaboration with faculty and students from that program. |

Location: |
With its many natural, archaeological, and cultural attractions,
Belize is a fascinating place to explore. The Cayo District,
where the program is held, is home to jungles, waterfalls, many
rivers, and two of Belize’s most important Mayan ruins.
Students will study at the School of Natural Resources at the
University of Belize. Field excursions to Tikal, Guatemala, Tulum Mexico and other archaeological sites and nature preserves. Advance meetings, reading and preparation are required.

Eligibility: |
This program is open to undergraduate professional program students
and graduate students, however, priority will be given to undergraduate
professional program students and graduate students. Applications
with $150 deposit on or before November 22, 2006
|
Academic
Program: |
Students
will enroll for the following course in either the undergraduate
or graduate level.
PLA 494/598 ST: International Field Studies (3)
Advance meetings, reading, and preparation are required.

Living
Accommodations: |
Students will live in University of Belize dormitories
|
Cost: |
The
cost of $1,200 (subject to possible change) includes: lodging,
ground transportation, excursions, and ISIC Card. Not included: ASU Tuition and fees, airfare
(approx. $500-650), passports, visas, food, optional excursions, and personal expenses.
