Location: |
Few, if any, places in the world can compare with the amazing city of Rome. Since antiquity,
authors have labeled Rome as ‘first among cities’. As the center of the Roman Empire,
majestic works of architecture were constructed in astonishing materials. During the Middle
Ages many of these architectural elements were re-used and created complex architectural
arrangements. Later, legendary architects like Michelangelo and Bernini were inspired by
these ancient remnants and created stunning works of sculpture and architecture. Since the
late nineteenth century, Rome has been the capital of the unified Italy. Today Rome is a
spectacular fusion of the ancient and the modern and presents its unique heritage like no
other city in the world.
Several trips are planned including visits to Pompeii and Tivoli.
