Summer Sessions Study Abroad 2004

Portugal

Dates: May 20 - June 15, 2007
Cost: $2455
Summary: The ASU summer program in Portugal is a four-week learning experience in one of the most historic and fascinating countries in the world.

Application deadline for this program has been extended until March 9!
Additional Information
Location: In 2007 the program will spend four weeks based in the historic city of Cascais, a seaside village on the Atlantic Ocean, about 20 miles from the capital city of Lisbon. This town has been a small fishing port throughout most of its long history. Its famous lighthouse served as a beacon to some of the greatest voyagers of the Age of Discovery, when Europe set out to explore the world. In 1870 the King converted the Citadela fortress into his summer residence, and the village became a fashionable resort attracting the rich and famous. Today, the two pasts mingle, and Cascais is still known as a city of Kings and Fishermen.

Program participants will visit historic sites, artistic events, natural attractions and museums. Field trips to Lisbon, Sintra, Estoril and many other tourist and cultural attractions are planned. Classes in the Portuguese language are supplemented by additional lectures given by local specialists on a variety of subjects.
