Summary: Poland is a unique example of how negotiations can contribute to a change of the whole political system. The process of learning how to live in a democratic society provides a unique opportunity to observe the role of critical thinking in everyday life

Location: WARSAW, GDANSK, KRAKOW, AUSCHWITZ
Students participating in this program will meet experts in the area of political psychology who teach in Warsaw School of Social Psychology (the best private university in Poland) and in the second oldest university in Europe: Jagiellonian University in Krakow. They will also have several meetings with Polish students.

This two week trip will allow students to experience not only an emerging democracy in the context of centuries old historical and cultural traditions of Poland, but also the extraordinary hospitality of Polish people. As a part of cultural program there are planned visits to Old Town and Castle in Warsaw, Kings Castle Wawel in Krakow, place of birth of Solidarity in Gdansk, as well as to the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz.

Eligibility:

This program is open to students who have completed Introductory Psychology, who are open to multicultural experiences, and who are interested in politics, international
marketing, journalism, and Slavic languages. Although proficiency in Polish is not a prerequisite, students of Polish origin are encouraged to participate in this program. Applications will be accepted until April 3, 2006 and will be processed in order of their receipt. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis. There is a $150 non-refundable deposit.

Program:
Normal enrollment is for three hours of credit. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m.

Living
Accommodations:
Housing is based on double occupancy in hotels.
Cost: The cost of $1,125 (subject to change) includes: housing, one meal a day, local transportation. Not included: ASU Tuition and fees, roundtrip airfare (approx. $1,200), additional food/beverages, and incidentals.
