Additional Information
Location: MEXICO CITY MAY 17 - 22
The country’s capital and center of Mexican culture for over 800 years, Mexico City offers multiple cultural sites and activities. The city has undergone several makeovers, from its beginnings as the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan, through the 1521 conquest that transformed it into the colonial capital of New Spain, all the way to the post-independence modern urban landscape of today. Mexico City features ultramodern buildings alongside Pre-Hispanic and colonial ones. We will also visit the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan, a pre-Aztec civilization, one hour outside the city, which features the tallest pyramids in the continent.

MERIDA MAY 22 - JUNE 22
Merida is a pleasant colonial city in the Yucatan Peninsula and features a tranquil lifestyle with modern-day conveniences. Its cultural offerings, size and safe character make it a perfect place to study the Spanish language, Mexican and Latin American literature, as well as Pre-Hispanic and modern Mayan culture. Numerous archeological sites are easily accessible by bus. This city is located a half hour bus trip from the sea, and about three hours away from the resort of Cancun.
Eligibility:

The program is open to all qualified students interested in Mexican/Mayan/Latin American culture and in learning or strengthening their Spanish language skills. Applications and a $275 non-refundable deposit are due by March 30, 2007. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis.
