Location: |
In 2006, the Barrett College in France offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of some of the world’s premier heritage sites and historical locations. We visit the beaches of Normandy, famous for D-day but also as the takeoff point for William the Conqueror, whose victory in 1060 at Hastings was recorded on the famous tapestry exhibited at Bayeux, together with the Domesday Book. We tour the great medieval churches of Mont St Michel and Chartres before going to the Loire Valley to view the spectacular castles built by Renaissance kings. But the majority of our program emphasizes Europe’s greatest capital, Paris. Public transportation is safe, cheap, and convenient, affording easy access to museums, quiet parks, and vibrant nightlife. Fully equipped studio apartments allow you to take advantage of the open-air marketplaces. Since its location and the fastest trains in the world make Paris the transportation hub for all of Europe, we schedule classes to allow three-day weekend visits to destinations such as Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, and Switzerland as well as overnight travel to the beaches of St. Tropez or the French Alps.
