excellence at ASU

Housing at Polytechnic Campus

Students at the Polytechnic campus focus on interdisciplinary science, engineering,
management, technology, entrepreneurship, and education, in a supportive environment. Here,
students form connections that last a lifetime and build skills that define their future careers.
With high-tech facilities and project-based learning, the Polytechnic campus provides the
ideal environment for intellectual exploration. This process is stimulated by ASU's approach
to campus life: the Residential College. Residential Colleges place students next door to
classmates from the same major so creative connections can happen anywhere. These
living-learning communities provide a supportive, close-knit culture designed to help students
succeed at ASU.

innovation academic village

At the Polytechnic campus, freshmen will reside in the newly built Innovation Academic Village.

The new three-story, 84,000 square-foot residence hall, will have two three-story residence
wings, creating an environment where students will live with other students who share the
same major, interact with faculty members and have access to academic resources and
student services outside of the classroom. Our residential colleges foster a comprehensive
experience that combines community activities with enhanced academic support.

The two buildings will be linked together by a one-story common area with a lobby, an
information desk, administration offices, a resident community kitchen, two multipurpose
rooms, group study rooms and a "tinker" room which will function as a small engineering
studio. Each wing features three student activity lounges – one on each floor for pool, gaming
and table tennis. In addition, each floor of each wing will have a laundry area and two quiet
study rooms. The Freshman Class of 2012 will be the first to enjoy these state-of-the-art
amenities. See the live webcam view of the construction.

dining

The ASU Polytechnic dining facility, located near the Student Union will serve up to 1,200
students and consist of a student dining area and has exterior seating on three sides that will
offer connections to the existing campus. In addition, the facility will have a small grocery store
and café. The dining facility will be a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
certified silver building.
