ASU’s campus tour is going high tech

ASU is offering a first-of-its-kind GPS-enabled, self-guided walking tour for visitors to the Tempe campus. Using a handheld computer and global positioning satellite technology, visitors can see and hear content about the campus when entering dozens of GPS hotspots located throughout campus. New nanotechnology effect – moving water molecules by light

A team of researchers at Arizona State University has demonstrated the ability to move water molecules by light – a phenomenon they believe could have widespread use in analytical chemistry and possibly pharmaceutical research. The discovery could have an important effect on the fledgling field of microfluidics, said Tony Garcia, an associate professor in the Harrington Department of Bioengineering. Read More

Students take third in Imagine Cup competition

The brain power and helpful spirity of four students from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering and the College of Technology and Applied Sciences led to the creation of Holding Hands, a personal mobile device that tells visually impaired users what is in their environment and how they can interact with it. The technology helped earn the team a third place overall finish in the national finals of Microsoftís Imagine Cup 2004 held May 23. Read More

Air Force Fly-Over Opens Tillman Ceremony

Five thousand fans gathered in Sun Devil Stadium today to pay tribute to fallen Army Ranger Pat Tillman, who played linebacker at Arizona State University from 1994-1997 and safety for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals for five seasons. The ceremony in honor of Tillman’s life centered on his skills as an athlete, his commitment as a student, his selflessness as an individual, and his heroism as a soldier. ASU mourns fallen soldier, former Sun Devil

Arizona State University is mourning the loss of ASU graduate Pat Tillman, who has been killed in Afghanistan while serving his country with the Army Rangers.

Tillman was a consummate student-athlete, graduating summa cum laude in 1997 with a degree in marketing and a 3.84 grade point average. He was a linebacker with the Sun Devil football team 1994-97 and was the Pac-10 defensive player of the year in 1997. Read More
