For the
Blog assignment, we will be using the free software at Blogger.com.
Basic instructions for setting up and posting to a blog using this
software are below:
To
set up your blog:
- Go to
http://www.blogger.com
- Look around if you like
or click on the "Start Now!" button in the Create Your
Own Blog! box.
- READ
THE TERMS OF SERVICE.
- Fill in the form to
create your account.
- Name your blog and type
a description.
- Do you want your blog
to be public?
- If yes, your first
post to the blog should indicate that you are working on this
for a class assignment.
- If no, not a problem.
You can make it public later or leave it private.
- Be sure to read
the distinctions between public and private. "Private"
in this case does not mean it is inaccessible. It will still
be hosted on a public webserver and potentially viewable by
anyone.
- Leave "Host it
at BlogSpot" selected.
- Give your blog an address.
- Select a template. You
can change or edit your template once your account is set up.
- Your blog is now created
and you can start posting.
- IMPORTANT:
SEND ME THE NAME, DESCRIPTION, AND URL OF YOUR BLOG.
- I'll
post a list of titles and URLs in Blackboard and at http://digrights.blogspot.com/.
This is not a public blog, but if you do not want your blog linked,
please let me know.
To post to your
blog:
- Click on "Posting"
in the blue navigation bar at the top of the page (just under Blogger
logo).
- Type your post in the
box. You can use the formatting buttons or type in HTML code.
- Click on "Preview
Your Post"
- From here you can click
on edit to edit your post, delete to delete it, or publish to post
it to your blog.
- When you're ready to
post it, be sure to click on "Republish Your Blog" to
send the post to the server.
- You can edit or delete
a posting by clicking on the "Manage Your Posts" button.
Other settings:
- Under "Settings"
(blue navigation bar), you have the option of changing the title/description
of your blog, some formatting, and adding members who can post.
- Under "Template"
(blue navigation bar), you can change your template either by typing
the HTML code or selecting another of the predefined templates.
