Spina Bifida is the most common Neural Tube Defect (NTD) found in the Hispanic population. It occurs in 7 out of every 10,000 births or 1 out of every 1, 200 live births.

  • Neural tube is the embryonic structure that develops into the brain and spinal cord and forms the 28th day of conception.
  • Spina Bifida is a birth defect that can cause spine and nerve damage due to an incomplete covering of the spinal cord, leaving nerves exposed.
