Report bee activity and its exact location to the Facilities Management Service Center at 480/965–3633.

Note: After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, all calls will be automatically forwarded to the Central Plant.

The Service Center or Management supervisor notifies the Grounds Department at 480/965–9498, or dial cell 480/205–9810 or 480/205–4869 or pager 602/229–1502, 602/340–2204, 602/201–6313, or 602/250–9064.

A grounds staff member (certified chemical applicator) investigates the site to determine if an Africanized bee problem exists and the severity of the infestation. If an infestation is determined to exist, it will be treated as an emergency, and the ASU Police Department (PD) will be notified.

PD cordons off the area immediately, evacuating if necessary. In the case of bee sting victims, PD calls paramedics immediately at 911.

If the location and/or severity of infestation warrants, a grounds staff member (certified chemical applicator), pest control company, or the Tempe Fire Department removes the bee swarm and/or hive.
