Arizona Board of Regents

ASU is governed by the Arizona Board of Regents. The board selects and appoints the president of the university, who is the chief executive officer of the institution. The president is aided in the administration of the institution by provosts, vice presidents, deans, faculty, directors, department chairs, and other officers.

Units of Academic Administration

ASU at Tempe campus is composed of the Colleges of Design, Education, Law, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Public Programs, the Katherine K. Herberger College of Fine Arts, the Craig and Barbara Barrett Honors College, the W.P. Carey School of Business, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, University College, and the Division of Graduate Studies. Twelve of the colleges are instructional units organized into schools, departments, or divisions. These colleges, schools, divisions, and departments are the principal agencies of academic administration at ASU and are responsible for developing and carrying out the major programs of instruction, research, and service for the university and the community at large. They are supported by the university libraries, museums, centers, and other service facilities. The Division of Graduate Studies is an administrative unit coordinating the programs of particular groups of students. Other administrative units may be organized by the president as necessary to administer the general functions of the university.

ASU at Polytechnic campus is organized into the following administrative units: East College, the Morrison School of Agribusiness and Resource Management, and the College of Technology and Applied Sciences.

ASU at West campus is composed of the College of Human Services, the College of Teacher Education and Leadership, the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, and the School of Global Management and Leadership.

Units of Scholarly Activity

The standard units of scholarly activity within the university are the academic departments, divisions, or schools. Each concerns itself with the work and subjects approved for it.
