Summer Sessions Study Abroad 2004

Argentina

Dates: December 27, 2006 - January 15, 2007
Cost: $1297
Summary: The ASU Winter Term Program in Argentina is a three week learning experience in the major cultural and intellectual center of Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Additional Information
Location:

The program will consist of two weeks of study in Buenos Aires (January 1-17), preceded by three days orientation in Tempe (December 26-30). In addition to being South America’s largest capital, Buenos Aires is also the most important Jewish cultural center in Latin America and one of the major cities of immigrant culture on the continent. During this intensive program, you will have the opportunity to examine the cultural production relating to this city in the areas of literature, art, music, journalism, theater, and photography. In addition to meeting with major figures from the arts and academic community, we will explore together this very “user friendly” metropolis, towards understanding how it has been represented in and interpreted by Argentine culture.

Eligibility: The program is open to all ASU students. Prerequisites include some previous knowledge of Spanish and upper-division standing. The first deadline for applications, including the $150 non-refundable deposit is September 29, 2006. Applications received after that date will be considered on a space-available basis. Participants must be willing to walk the city (note: Buenos Aires is flat, pollution free and extremely safe with proper precautions).
