The Student Council voted to form a Rodeo Association in 1949 and over 100 athletes participated in the first intercollegiate competitions that year. The rodeo continued between 1974 and 1977 as the Tri-City Intercollegiate Rodeo, which was co-sponsored with Mesa Community College. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse took over sponsorship after 1977. The last record of events was in 1981.
