(Pogonomyrmex) colei Snelling 1982 [1981]; 97, figs. 1-11 (queen, male). USA Nevada: Clark County, 2 mi SE Boulder City, 2240', 18 September, 1978 (S.R. Rissing, No. NE 212), from a nest a Pogonomyrmex rugosus (holotype queen, 73 queen paratypes, 45 male paratypes).
Etymology: Snelling indicated that it was fitting that this unusual species be dedicated to A.C. Cole, Jr., reviser of the genus and a respected friend and colleague.
