Parent Language Intervention Programs

Another program designed to enhance early communication and language skills in young children, is our parent training and support groups.  Families meet once a week to learn strategies to promote children’s development, particularly speech and language, during daily activities.  Meetings alternate between group sessions at ASU and individual meetings with families and their child in their home.  Sessions are conducted by a certified speech-language pathologist and the purpose of the training is to teach parents some things to help improve a child’s communication.  The training includes demonstrations and discussion of various strategies and techniques design to facilitate children’s emerging communication and language skills. Babysitting is provided for children and their siblings during the group meetings at ASU.  Individual meetings are scheduled at convenient times for the child and their family in their home.
