SDA 103–04: Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

To provide a forum for student-athletes; to enhance lines of communication among student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators; and to provide a liaison between student-athletes and the Pac-12 Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association

Policy

[horizontal rule]

Under the direct supervision of the senior associate athletic director and other athletic faculty advisors and the oversight of the director of Athletics, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) provides a forum for student-athletes to voice concerns and athlete-related issues concerning the university, the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

SAAC members are responsible for:

  1. filtering complaints and concerns of student-athletes regarding student welfare
  2. planning events to ensure unity among members of the athletic community

    and

  3. working to develop ties with the university at large and surrounding communities.

The SAAC Executive Committee consists of the following:

  1. a chairperson–president
  2. 5-7 Executive Board Members

    and

  3. two SAAC members to represent ASU’s student-athlete population on the Sun Devil Faculty Athletic Board and on the Pac-12 Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
