PDP 104–03: Aircraft Accidents |
To provide guidelines for the conduct and safety of university personnel in the event of an aircraft accident on campus
Arizona State University Emergency Operations Manual
When a private or commercial aircraft is involved in an accident, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will respond to examine the wreckage. No one is allowed to touch or remove any part of the aircraft, except to remove bodies, rescue injured persons, and/or remediate a hazardous situation.
When officials from NTSB respond to aircraft wreckage sites and assume control of the scene, university personnel will work with them to process the scene. Until NTSB responds, the ASU Police Department (ASU PD) will have jurisdiction of the scene.
For events that may take time to mitigate, or have severe impact on the university, it is an option to activate the emergency operation center and begin using the emergency operation plan. Information about the event will be shared using the university notification plan.
