On November 6, 2008, ASU’s Young Writers Program (YWP) hosted a reading by Poet Laureate Charles Simic at Burton Barr Library in Phoenix. Five high schools participated in the event including Brophy College Preparatory, Carson Junior High School, Grand Canyon College Preparatory, La Joya Community High School, Metropolitan Arts Institute, and Tempe Preparatory Academy with over 200 students in attendance.
