Funding your education
We understand you and your family have made a significant financial commitment to your education, your future and Arizona State University. We value your contribution to the ASU community and are dedicated to providing resources and tools to help manage your educational expenses.
Financial Aid Options
Financial support is available in the form of scholarships, grants, federal work-study, loans and outside resources. More than 70 percent of all ASU students receive some form of financial assistance every year.
In the 2009-2010 academic year, more than 56,000 students were awarded nearly $800 million in all types of financial aid, including more than $321 million in scholarships and grant funding. The university, in partnership with the ASU Foundation for a New American University, along with alumni, civic groups, private foundations, individuals, and federal and state governments, remains committed to helping our students reach their educational goals. In recent years, ASU has made unprecedented increases in the amount of university gift assistance awarded to our students.
Interactive Tools for Students
As you and your family make choices about your overall financial commitments, it is important to have the tools and resources to understand the direct and indirect costs of going to college. ASU continues to create interactive tools to help you and your family estimate costs, plan budgets and search for scholarships and student jobs.
- Cost calculator.
- Interactive student budget worksheet.
- Scholarship search.
- Scholarship estimator.
- Job search.
Student Outreach and Interaction
ASU provides workshops and presentations to current and prospective students. Through partnerships with Undergraduate Student Government (USG), workshops explain the financial aid process and how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our financial aid and early outreach staffs also visit high schools and community sites to help families plan for college many years before they even apply for admission to the university.
Working with prospective and current students one-on-one is critical. Our financial assistance counselors meet one-on-one with students at the Student Financial Assistance Office and at Orientation. Through a dedicated call center, the office fielded over 133,000 calls in academic year 2009-2010.
A new program focusing on financial literacy is in development. Through the program, online tools and in-person meetings will take a holistic approach and teach you not only about managing your college expenses but also how to develop healthy spending habits for life.
Contact the Student Financial Assistance Office if you have any questions or concerns.
