GENERAL, FACILITY What
kinds of events are appropriate for the Mercado? ASU at the Mercado
is a multipurpose facility available to the community
for educational purposes, including meetings, seminars,
training sessions, and classes.
What
are the Mercado hours?
The Mercado is open Monday to Thursday from
7am – 10pm, Friday from 7am – 6pm, and
Saturday from 8am – 5pm. Hours vary during the
summer months. Special events may occur at other hours.
RESERVATIONS,
PAYMENT Can a room reservation
be held without any paperwork?
No. Due to heavy demand, a classroom request form is
required. Requests are handled in the order in which
they are received. When a form is
received, the best available space is set aside for
that function and a tentative reservation is sent to
the client for review. A reservation is confirmed when
the form is signed by the client and faxed to the Mercado.
How
far in advance should a room be reserved?
It’s best to reserve a room as far in advance
as possible. Each room request is handled in the order
in which it is received. A reservation is not final
until a signed
contract (and a deposit, if required) is received
from the client.
Is
a credit card a valid form of payment?
Yes. Visa or MasterCard are accepted for deposits and
room charges.
What
is the Mercado reservation cancellation
policy?
The facility
policy contains complete details of all Mercado policies. Requirements vary to cancel a room
reservation without a fee. Please call with specific
questions.
FOOD,
ETC How is food provided?
There are three options:
1. Contract directly with a caterer
approved by the Mercado. It is important
to provide the Mercado staff with a copy of
the catering invoice once the event has concluded.
2. Contract directly with a caterer of your choice.
There is a $50 fee for using a caterer not on the Mercado list of approved caterers.
3. Bring your own food. There is a $30 fee for bringing
non-catered food.
How
are beverages ordered?
See the beverage
list for selection and prices, then contact the
Mercado staff to place your order.
May
alcohol be served at Mercado events?
Yes. Alcoholic beverages may be permitted in certain
circumstances, although a permit is required. Please
contact the Mercado staff to begin the process.
(The event must be hosted by a caterer who is licensed
to serve alcohol, and a copy of the caterer's license
must be provided to the Mercado once the client
is approved through the permitting process.)
OTHER
SERVICES How early is
the room available for set-up?
Meeting rooms can be accessed one hour before the start
of the event.
Is
outside AV equipment allowed for an event?
Yes. Outside AV equipment is allowed. Before the event,
please inform the Mercado staff of all equipment
needs (including power strips, etc.) so the room may
be prepared in advance.
How is Mercado staff to be contacted during the event? Use the grey telephone
on the wall in the meeting room to call the second
floor receptionist, who will handle the request.
Appropriate Mercado staff will respond
to your needs.
PARKING Where is parking
available? Is there a fee associated with parking?
The Heritage and Science Park garage is the most convenient
parking for Mercado event participants. The
garage is at the southeast corner of Monroe
and Fifth streets. There are two garage entrances;
one is on Monroe Street and another on Fifth Street.
Additional parking is available at parking meters along
the street.
Facility
Users will have two options for their event parking
at the Heritage and Science Park garage.
1) Parking
included, paid by program facilitator: Please
instruct your event attendees to park in the conveniently
