We've collected information from all over the ASU web that you are likely to be looking for as you get started at ASU. It's important that you feel right at home as soon as possible. Getting Set Up at ASU

The Sun Card is ASU's photo identification card. Obtain a Sun Card at the Sun Card Office located on the first floor in the Memorial Union (northeast corner) two weeks after you submit your payroll forms. This ID may be used to obtain library privileges and bookstore and events ticket discounts.

  • Visitor Parking: There are a number of visitor parking lots scattered around the periphery of campus; visiting parking structures and surface lots charge $2 per hour, with a maximum of $8 per day.
  • Temporary: Present your temporary ASU ID, a photo ID, and license plate number to Parking Services in the Towers (525 S. Forest at Fifth St.) to receive a free, two-week temporary parking permit. You may also secure a temporary permit by presenting this information at the HR Employee Orientation session.
  • Permanent: For a permanent parking decal, go to Parking Services in the Towers at 525 S. Forest Street. To buy a permanent decal, you must have an Arizona license plate. (Go to "Vehicle Registration" for details.)

Vehicle Registration

To get an Arizona license plate, you will need to go to the AZ Motor Vehicle Division. Before making the trip, you would be wise to find out what you need (proof of insurance, etc.) to secure Arizona plates. You may access its web site at http://www.dot.state.az.us/MVD/mvd.htm, then click on the “FAQs” (Frequently Asked Questions) link under the category “General Information.” Finally, click on the “Title and Registration” link and look for the link that pertains to “register my out-of-state vehicle.” The main phone number for the MVD is (602) 255-0072.

The university has come a long way since it started as Tempe Normal School in 1885. Event Calendar
In addition to a comprehensive University Event Calendar and the Academic Calendar, there are calendars for ASU Athletics, Herberger College of Fine Arts Mainstage Season, ASUEvent Email List, and ASU Public Events (Gammage & Kerr). ASU Insight (published weekly during the academic year, bi-weekly during the summer) is also a great way to find out what's happening on campus.

ASU Child and Family Services
There are a number of child development centers at ASU designed for pre-school children.

ASU Summer Programs and Camps for Kids
