DRC on Other ASU Campuses |
Alternative Format ServicesWith appropriate documentation, students may be eligible to receive text materials in alternative format (i.e., audio text, Braille, large print, tactile graphics, electronic-text, etc.). Students must meet with their DRC coordinator/disability specialist to determine if they are eligible for this accommodation. Eligibility for Alternative Format Services is based on documented need. Students requiring alternative format must be admitted to the University early enough to pre-register. If this timeline cannot be met, the DRC will attempt, but may be unable to guarantee the requested materials for the beginning of classes. Textbook/print conversion is a time-intensive process, especially for technical subject matter (e.g., math, science, or music text) and can require up to four months to complete. The DRC will make every attempt to provide material as early as possible. However, late requests will result in a delay in providing materials. While the specific methods are requested by the student, it does not imply that a particular accommodation must be granted if it is deemed not reasonable and other suitable techniques are available. Note: If the student is unable to obtain copies of the required textbooks or print materials, they are required to notify the alternative format manager as soon as possible (contact: 480.965.8490). Students must purchase one copy of each required textbook(s) and/or other print material(s) for each class and submit a proof of purchase (e.g., sales receipt or physical copy of textbook) to the alternative format manager before the alternative format will be delivered. In the event that the student misses pre-registration, the following options may be available, in addition to Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D).
