DRC Scholarships

The ASU Disability Resource Center is pleased to offer private donor scholarships to qualified students with disabilities attending ASU at the Tempe and Polytechnic campuses. Each scholarship listed below has specific criteria and requirements. To be considered for any of the scholarships below, you must meet and have completed all of the DRC scholarship eligibility requirements listed in the application process.

Scholarships available to students attending the ASU Tempe and Polytechnic campuses:  

Andrew M. Brown Scholarships: all disabilities considered, 2.5 cumulative GPA, Arizona residents and nonresidents, undergraduate and graduate students considered

Ethelmae S. Merriam Scholarships: all disabilities considered, Arizona residents and nonresidents

Julie Sargent Memorial Scholarships: must have juvenile diabetes, undergraduate students only

Steve & Mary Rosenfield Scholarship: must have specific learning disability or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, first semester freshman, Northern California residents preferred

Donald & Dorothy Colee scholarships: must have physical disability, 3.0 cumulative GPA, Arizona residents only

DRC Scholarship application process:

To be considered for a DRC scholarship, the student must:

•  Be registered with the DRC as a qualified ASU student with a disability
•  Have a minimum 2.5 ASU cumulative GPA
    NOTE: first semester freshman and transfer students who have not completed 12 undergraduate credits at ASU must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from the previous school attended. Graduate students must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.
•  Complete the DRC Scholarship Application
•  New ASU students or continuing students that have received no prior DRC Scholarship award must complete the DRC New Scholarship Applicant Application.
•  Continuing ASU students who have previously been awarded a DRC Scholarship must complete the DRC Renewal Scholarship Application.
•  Provide a letter of reference from an academic professional (e.g., teacher, advisor etc.)
•  Provide a current college transcript or high school transcript
•  Be pursuing a full-time degree program at ASU
•  Establish financial need by having a current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file at the ASU Student Financial Assistance Office by the DRC scholarship submission deadline.

NOTE: DRC Scholarship Applications and required materials must be submitted together. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed

All DRC scholarship recipients must:

•  Attend one of three DRC Scholarship recipient orientation sessions:
•  Dates, time & location TBD
•  Apply for participation in the DRC TRiO Student Support Services program (undergraduate students only).
•  Complete 10 hours of campus/community involvement per semester. (See assigned Disability Access Consultant for specifics.)
•  Meet with assigned Disability Access Consultant, minimally, once a month.
•  Maintain a cumulative GPA in accordance with the specific scholarship awarded.
•  Continue enrollment as a full-time, degree seeking student at ASU (suspension or dismissal will automatically terminate the scholarship).
•  File a signed copy of the scholarship contract, outlining the specific requirements of the award, with the Disability Resource Center DRC Scholarship Coordinator.

Please be advised: If the terms and conditions are not met throughout the semester in which the award is received, you may no longer be eligible for future DRC scholarship awards.

All DRC scholarships recipients may have their scholarships renewed for no more than four years while attending ASU.
