Counseling and Consultation (C&C) offers educational and preventive presentations for students, faculty and staff. We are involved in the training of paraprofessional staff employed by the university such as Residential Life Residence Advisors and Hall Directors as well as Tutors, Residence Advisors, and Teaching Assistants of the Upward Bound/Summer Bridge program to name a few. We have also routinely worked with academic departments, student organizations and other programs to help provide students information on a variety of topics.

Some of the topics include:

How to Identify and Refer a Student in Distress

Substance Abuse

Team Building

Adjustment to College

Career Development

Overcoming Procrastination

Gender Issues

Transitioning Home

Sexuality Issues

Relationship and Communication Skills

Body Image

Psychological and Emotional Wellness

Eating Disorders

Diversity Issues

As indicated above, the workshops and presentations serve to educate staff and students about relevant topics in the hopes of raising awareness, increasing knowledge, or improving skills. The presentations can also serve to prevent either the occurrence or reoccurrence of important health concerns. Our presentations aim not only to provide students with practical information, but to engage with them and encourage dialogue as well. Our presentations are an opportunity for students to meet new people interested in a topic relevant to them.

Presentations are not limited to the topics listed here. If you (or your organization) are interested in a presentation but are unsure whether C&C can present on the topic, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We will frequently customize a presentation to suit the needs of the ASU community.

Please note: A minimum of two weeks notice is required for all outreach and programming requests.
