Counseling and Consultation

Discounted Fee Schedule & Fee Policy

All full- and part-time ASU students are eligible for personal and career counseling services. The following fees apply to all individuals using Counseling and Consultation (C&C) counseling and psychiatric services. Career Testing fees are listed on a separate schedule. Fees and policies are subject to change.

Discount Fee Schedule :  Counseling & Consultation (C&C) recognizes that a large percentage of ASU students live on a limited budget. Many students are unable to pay cash for full counseling and/or psychiatric services fees and do not have insurance coverage. The following discounted fee schedule applies to all students without insurance. For students using insurance, the co-pay amount is listed below. In the case that a student’s insurance denies payment, the discounted fee schedule will apply. Fee policies and rates are subject to change.

No shows and late cancellations—all services:  the full discounted fee will be charged

USE OF SERVICES:  Personal Consultation appointments and Group Screening appointments are no charge. Further sessions incur a fee. Using Personal Consultations in lieu of regular appointments is not permitted. Partial sessions due to late attendance on the part of the student are charged as a full session.  No shows and late cancellations are charged as a regular session. Late arrivals will be rescheduled and a “no show” fee charged. After two consecutive no-shows or late cancellations, a student’s services at C&C may be terminated and the student supplied with a referral to services elsewhere. An excessive overall number of no-shows or cancellations may result in the suspension of eligibility for C&C services for up to one year from the last occurrence

COUPLES COUNSELING: A couple is considered as a separate entity regardless of individual services one or both of the students have previously received. Charges for couples services are the joint responsibility of each ASU student involved. Therefore, if a couple comprises two ASU students, the amount billed is divided between the two students’ accounts.

FEE REDUCTIONS:  Fees for C&C services may be further reduced beyond the discounted fee, or even waived, upon demonstration of financial hardship. Fee reduction applications may be requested at the C&C front desk. Decisions about financial need are based on policies established by the Student Financial Assistance office. Fee reductions and waivers may not be applied retroactivelyPlease Note:  Fee reductions and waivers do not apply to charges for no-shows and late cancellations; full discounted fees will be charged. Fee reductions and waivers expire on July 31st of each year.

PAYMENT FOR SERVICES: Payment for individual services is due at the beginning of each appointment.  Students may (1) have C&C bill their insurance companies if applicable, (2) pay at Cashiering Services on the second floor of the Student Service Building and bring receipts to the Front Desk, or (3) have charges billed to their ASU student accounts on a monthly basis. For students choosing to pay by billing their ASU student account, the following entry will appear on the their ASU statement: “ Student Services Misc.”  If insurance is billed and payment denied, the discounted fee will be applied and billed to the ASU student account.
