A composite photo made with images of finches taken by Kevin McGraw's research team show the variation of coloration of the birds captured, photographed and released, from drab yellow through orange (middle) to red. Using computer software, certain color regions of the plumage are selected and measured. This information is then compared across the three trapping sites in the Valley.
