Hundreds of ASU students trekked up the side of Hayden Butte in Tempe Aug. 18 to take part in the time-honored tradition of whitewashing the “A.” About 10 gallons of paint is needed to cover the huge letter – with most of the paint ending up where it is supposed to go.
