PRAXIS I: Pre-Professional Skills Test, Computer-Based
- Information
- Praxis I: Computerized Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST) are computer-delivered tests in reading,
mathematics, and writing. These tests can be taken individually or as one, combined testing session.
Praxis bulletins are available for pickup in our office or visit www.ets.org/praxis for more information.
- Schedule
- The computerized PPST is given year round. Test appointments are usually made in the mornings,
Wednesday through Saturday. Afternoon appointments are available occassionally. The reporting time for
admission is always 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Dates and times may vary at
different times of the year.
- Cost
- The following fees apply:
- One test—$80.00
- Two tests—$120.00
- Three tests—$160.00
- Combined test—$130.00
- Time
- The appointment time for each test is 2 hours or 4-1/2 hours for the combined test to allow for
tutorials and the collection of background information from test takers. The actual length and testing
time for each section is as follows:
- Reading, 46 questions, 75 minutes
- Mathematics, 46 questions, 75 minutes
- Writing, 44 questions, 38 minutes plus one 30-minute essay
- Register
- There are two ways to register through our office:
- In Person with a check, money order, Visa, Mastercard,
or American Express.
- By Phone with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
You can also register by calling the Praxis national registration line at 1-800-853-6773.
- Reschedule
- Once the appointment is made, notification must be given three business days prior to your test date to
reschedule or cancel. You can reschedule for a $15.00 fee per test, including the combined test. If you
cancel you will receive a refund of $20.00 per test or $60.00 for the combined test.
- Retake
- You may take each computerized PPST once per calendar month up to six times in a 12-month period.
- Admission
- The reporting time for admission is always 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You must
present a valid ID containing name, a recent photo, and signature to be admitted to test. If available,
you may want to bring secondary identification.
