NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards)

Information
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is a series of subject tests for National Board Certification for teachers. NBPTS can be reached at 1-800-228-3224 (1-800-22TEACH) or online at www.nbpts.org.
Schedule
Most candidates will have a 6-12 month window in which to test.
Cost
No fees are payable to UTS. Candidates submit the testing fee of $2,500.00 to NBPTS when applying.
Time
Most exams are four hours long, excluding retakes. Break times vary depending on the exam.
Register
Candidates must establish eligibility with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to receive an eight-digit candidate ID number needed to register. Once established, the candidate can contact the Prometric NBPTS Registration Center at 1-800-226-7958 or our office to schedule an appointment. NBPTS encourages you to schedule early in order to be assured of your desired test location and time, but you should be prepared to call again later when it is closer to your desired appointment date.
Reschedule
All art candidates must reschedule no later than 10 full days before the scheduled appointment. All other candidates must reschedule no later than three full days before the scheduled appointment. The "full days" do not include the day of your call or the day of the appointment. Contact the Prometric NBPTS National Registration Center at 1-800-226-7958 or our office to reschedule. There is a $50.00 rescheduling fee payable to NBPTS at 1-800-228-3224 (1-800-22TEACH).
Retake
Retake candidates must submit a retake application to NPBTS. Upon receipt of the retake Authorization to Test (ATT), candidates must contact the Prometric NBPTS National Registration Center at 1-800-226-7958 to schedule.
Admission
The reporting time for admission is always 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Walk-in testing is not permitted. An examinee must present a valid photo ID with a signature and an Authorization to Test (ATT).
