University Testing and Scanning ServicesEffective Dec. 1, 2011 testing fees are NON-REFUNDABLE Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) General TestInformationThe Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) General Test is taken by individuals applying to graduate schools. GRE® bulletins and testing policies and procedures as well as free test-prep software are available at the GRE® section of the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Registration, rescheduling, and cancellation can now be done online at www.ets.org/gre ScheduleThe GRE® General Test is a computer-based test given year round. Test appointments are usually scheduled in the mornings — Wednesday through Saturday. Occasionally, afternoon appointments may also be available. The reporting time for admission is always 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Dates and times may vary at different times of the year. CostThe current fee for the GRE® General Test is $160.00. TimeThe exam consists of analytical, verbal, and quantitative sections. The total appointment time is four hours.The Revised GRE that begins August 1, 2011 appointment time will be 4.5 hours. RegisterGRE® registration is now available online at www.ets.org/gre. You can also register by calling the GRE national registration line at 1-800-473-2255. RescheduleGRE examinees will be required to reschedule or cancel more than three full days before their test date (not including the day of the test or the day of the appointment). For example, the deadline to reschedule a Friday appointment will be Monday (five actual calendar days). The fee for rescheduling is $50.00; cancellations qualify for a partial refund of one-half the original registration fee. RetakeYou can take the exam once per calendar month, but no more than five times in any 12-month period. AdmissionThe reporting time for admission is always 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You must present a valid government issued ID containing name, a recent photo, and signature to be admitted to test. If you are testing outside of your country of citizenship, you must present a valid passport. Please see specific ID requirements in the GRE® bulletin. Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) Subject TestsInformationThe GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in specific disciplines. Each Subject Test is intended for students who have majored in or have extensive background in that specific area. The disciplines include Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology; Biology; Chemistry; Computer Science; Literature in English; Mathematics; Physics; and Psychology.
