Math Placement—Calculus
ASU Calculus Math Placement Test for placement into MAT 251, MAT 265, MAT
270 and APM 270 (note: APM 270 will become APM 265 for the fall semester)
- Information
- Prior to taking the Calculus Math Placement Test, students should take the
Unified Math Placement Test (UPT) available online at http://math.asu.edu/fym/placement.html.
The Calculus Math Placement Test covers algebra and trigonometry questions
that a student should be able to answer correctly prior to the first
day of a calculus class. The test is used to determine a student's readiness
to take calculus courses at ASU. If a student desires to register for
MAT 251, MAT 265, MAT 270 or APM 270 (note: APM 270 will become APM 265
for the fall semester), the Calculus
Math Placement Test must be completed and a passing score achieved prior
to course registration. Students must answer 60% of the questions
correctly to attain a passing score. Scores will be noted as pass/fail
only.
- For further information, please see the Math Department’s Calculus
Math Placement web page or the Orientation
Placement Exams website. A practice test is available
at the following website: http://mdtp.ucsd.edu/crtest/ .
We recommend that you take the practice exam and review the appropriate topics
prior to testing.
