ACT Residual

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

UTSS has moved to 1130 E University Dr, Suite 204 in Tempe. Parking is available for the time you are visiting University Testing and Scanning Services.

Information
ACT Residual testing at ASU is used to help determine eligibility for undergraduate admission as well as admission to the W.P. Carey School of Business. Unlike the ACT National test, ACT Residual test scores are valid only at ASU.
Special Accommodations
To receive disability accommodations you must be registered with the ASU Disability Resource Center and be approved for special accommodations. Please do not register for a group testing time. Individual testing arrangements must be made with the Program Coordinator (email or phone: 480-965-7146).

  • November 20 at 9:00 AM
  • November 25 at 9:00 AM
  • December 1 at 1:00 PM
  • December 4 at 9:00 AM
  • December 9 at 1:00 PM
  • December 11 at 9:00 AM
  • December 14 at 1:00 PM
  • December 18 at 9:00 AM
  • December 28 at 9:00 AM
Cost
The ACT Residual costs $50.00 and must be paid with a check or money order made out to Arizona State University.
Time
The exam consists of four multiple-choice sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. The total appointment time is four hours.
Register
In Person: Complete the ACT Residual registration form (PDF, 225KB) and submit it along with payment to a UTS staff member in Suite 204. At that time you will be given an admission ticket.
By Mail: Complete the ACT Residual registration form (PDF, 225KB) and submit it along with payment and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

UTSS must receive your registration and payment no later than 4:30 pm the day before your scheduled test date. It is your responsibility to contact this office prior to your earliest test date choice to confirm your appointment if you have not received your confirmation by return mail.
Reschedule
You must cancel or reschedule no later than seven days after your original test date.
  • To transfer the test date, submit your admission ticket along with a $10.00 check or money order payable to Arizona State University.
  • To cancel a test date and receive a refund of 50% of your testing fee, you must fill out a refund request form.
Retake
You must wait 60 days since your last ACT Residual Test before you can retake the exam.
Admission
Exam entrance requires an admission ticket along with an original, valid, photo ID. The name on your photo ID must match the name on your admission ticket. YOU MUST CHECK IN AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE TEST TIME TO BE ADMITTED. No one will be admitted to the testing room once test booklets are distributed. No cell phones are allowed.
Scores
Test scores should be available for pickup in our office one day after the test date. Test scores are valid at ASU only and no additional score reports will be generated. Scores are also available on My ASU.
Parking
Parking is available for the time you are visiting University Testing and Scanning Services. You must arrive 15 minutes early to sign in prior to the scheduled test time. Late arrivals may not be seated.
Calculators
Most four-function, scientific and graphing calculators may be used on the Mathematics test. The following types of calculators are prohibited:
  • calculators with a typewriter keypad (qwerty format)
  • calculators with built-in computer algebra systems such as:
    • CASIO Algebra fx 2.0 Class Pad 300 and all model numbers that begin with CFX-9970G
    • Texas Instruments model numbers that begin with TI-89 or TI-92 and the TI-Nspire CAS— the TI-Nspire (non-CAS) is permitted.
    • Hewlett-Packard hp48GII and all model numbers that begin with hp40G or hp49G
