Message from President Crow: Commitment to Ethics |
ADVISORY SERVICES Each year, University Audit and Advisory Services (University Audit) receives requests from various University departments that are more advisory in nature than traditional audits. This category of service provides University Audit with the opportunity to partner with management to identify solutions for issues as they arise, and to ensure that the related internal controls are addressed. Following are examples of the advisory services offered: CONSULTING ENGAGEMENTS These services involve requests for comprehensive assistance with policies and/or process reviews, and resolution support. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE These services involve services that we can provide in eight or less hours related to policies, processes, and other matters. TRAINING University Audit provides training to departments on an as requested basis. The training focuses on internal controls. University Audit has recently developed a program titled: Management's Responsibility for Internal Controls. This course is intended for University employees with financial oversight responsibilities that would benefit from general knowledge of internal controls and good business practices. The program provides a description of the elements of internal controls developed by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) of the Treadway Commission. The program also provides examples of "misadventures" resulting from inadequate internal controls, and a tool kit for identifying where managers can obtain assistance with their controls. Contact University Audit at 965-1801 if you are interested in more information about this program. |
