Irish Hall
Ammenities
Irish Hall, located in Center Complex, is one of three residence halls that make up the home of the Barrett Honors College. It provides double-occupancy accommodations with community-style bath facilities for both freshman and upper-class Honors students. The hall, co-ed by room, offers access to a computer lab, laundry and kitchen facilities, vending machines, air conditioning, a volleyball court, and basic cable.
Irish Hall, built in 1940 with an addition in 1946, honors Fred M. Irish, one of the first science teachers at the Arizona Territorial Normal School. Known by the students as "Cap," Irish was a leader of student activities for 45 years, was the first football coach (1896-1906), first athletic director (1896-1913), first registrar (1925), and received an honorary degree the first year they were awarded (1940).
