School of Human Evolution and Social Change (formerly the Anthropology Building)

Enter the School of Human Evolution and Social Change building, and you'll find the ASU Museum of Anthropology, established in 1961. The museum plays a major instructional role in the Museum Studies Program. In addition to the main gallery, exhibits concerning faculty and student research are located throughout the building.

Along with the museum, the School of Human Evolution and Social Change maintains archaeological collections, collected by ASU researchers at thousands of sites over the years. Though most of the materials are Southwestern, primarily from Arizona, there are also research collections from other areas of North America, Mesoamerica, and the Near East. All together, it is estimated that these collections contain more than two million specimens.

In addition to archaeological materials, the building also houses ethnological and physical anthropological collections. Physical anthropology resources include skeletal and worldwide dental cast collections, the Albert A. Dahlberg collection of Pima Indian dental casts, and access to a collection of chimpanzee skeletons through the Primate Foundation of Arizona.
