One of the sustainable alternatives to personal automobile use that ASU offers is the Zipcar program. Zipcar, the largest car-sharing company in the United States, allows its members to rent a low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicle for an hourly fee as low as $9, a rate which includes the costs of gas, maintenance, insurance, 24-hour emergency assistance, and ASU parking. With eight locations and ten cars (including two hybrid Civics) on the Tempe Campus, Zipcar represents one way that ASU is encouraging students, faculty, and staff to adopt more environmentally-healthy transportation habits.
