Digital Phoenix is a research project of the Herberger Center for Design Research aimed at developing a new approach to urban planning, design and environmental management. The project team members work closely with the Decision Theater to develop innovative, integrated visual platforms to investigate the impacts of policy on growth patterns. Projects include 3-D visualization of city environments, travel demand modeling, and measurements of urban sprawl and simulation of future urban environments. The Digital Phoenix project is a planning tool which utilizes state-of-art visualization, computation and informatics tools, combined with detailed social, economic and environmental data to foster research on the dynamics of urban growth and improve quality of life.
